Wobbly driveshaft flange

    Mk2 16v box, has been rebuilt with a quaife ATB, just when i removed the inner CV joints yesterday lots of oil came out and the near side driveshaft flange has some play in it, whereas the other side doesn't !

    ANy ideas ?

    Look for a center cap seal that has popped out or has been shoved out, and that will be where the gearbox fluid came from.

    It lowers the level in the box, putting 5th at risk, and it washes the grease and thins it in the CV joint, so it runs with less protection.

    Check the gearbox level, and pack the CV with fresh grease, and replace the center cap seal.

    While it is all apart, look to see if the circlip has failed, and is allowing the flange to be wobbly, or if it is slop in the other parts.
