believe it or not the car is owned by a farmer near where I work in cornwall, it's a rare Roush factory example, the only one in the uk and one of about 25 ever made, 650bhp, one off wheels, unique suspension, brakes and engine mods. It's not his only car though , he's also got a genuine ac cobra, rs500 cosworth and a mint rs2000 escort, and they say there's no money in farming!
lol - I thought that was a typo and you meant to say a rough GT Cool registration plate. That's why our food costs so much, so that all those subsidies can be given to farmers to buy fast cars with. What work are you doing on it?
Roush dont have a factory? They have a workshop. In that Saleen is the only Ford modifier to be able to claim and be listed as a 'manufacturer'. Roush are just aftermarket, same as Shelby. So its WAY less cool than a Ford GT, but still 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000x cooler than anything else on English Roads Thanks for pics!
As Stella said about the number plate Great car to be having in a workshop! There's no shortage of rich farmers in rallying!
its the same car as the one ford make, they just take it away from new and get more power from it, i've seen a standard (if you can call it that) gt40 and the roush one is way lower and meaner and the finish of their customised parts is unreal, every coolant hose has their own logo on, the billet calipers are engraved silly things like that, oh and the exhaust is a work of art in itself, it looks like one continous pipe with no visable joins and best of all no silencers of any kind, unbelieveable noise!
it was in for a service, what a job though, it arrived at 6pm and wasn't finished till 3am! it takes about 2 hours just to remove the undertrays - they're custom made carbon fibre with about 200 self tapping screws, it also needed the antifreeze changing for winter, a big job when it holds 60 litres!
One of my best mates is in partnership with Carrol Shelby for UK distribution of Shelby Mustangs. And I have met and had a beer with Steve Saleen. Roush are OK, but its a bit like Technics or Bang and Olufsen. Your layman thinks they are good products, but once you know the alternatives and have experience in that area, you realise it's all overpriced rubbish compared to the competition.
do you not think if your mate worked for roush and you had listened to what they say about thier products/competition etc you would feel the same but the otherway round?? Do the prices not also reflect what you are saying?? ie roush is more like a technics premium over standard, where are shelby are more like b&o prices?? or are they premiums similar? never going to be buying a V8 in this country in a hurry so never really paid much attention to them
when it's back in again i'll try and get a video or two, he was watching us like a hawk while it was in the whole time, can't blame him though it cost 140,000 new! as for roush parts, i'v never seen up close anything modern by shelby but I can imagine what they're like Going by previous cars we've had in including bentley GT's and rollers' the quality is right up there, it is only a blue oval after all!
I had written a big long reply but its gone! In a nutshell: Roush is commonly known as not all that. Americans are very discerning when it comes to engineering and in fact the vast majority of their aftermarket car stuff puts Europe made stuff to shame. However good Roush stuff if in comparison to UK stuff, its simply not as good as the competitors. However, when it comes to Ford GTs, Roush are one of the few that do them, so they are quite popular. Back to a standard Mustang, you'll find the vast majority will buy Shelby, then Saleen, then Roush.
do they make any mustangs as right hand drive? have you ever seen the saleen race car (sorry dont know the actual name) up close if so what are they like, they seem to do well in the america le mans series, look a serious bit of kit
Somehow I think we're debating differing grades of diamond here Dave. I know Alpina are the authorised BMW tuners, but others are not eg Birds, or <there are plenty others, Schnitzter etc > but that doesn't make them all rubbish. Certainly the Roush point is way over the heads of the readers here tbh, and I include myself in that! All the more so, that is, if you're in the Shelby camp Looks like a top car to me Even Clarkson didn't stretch to that!
Yup, as said they are all better than UK made stuff and Roush even work together sometimes with Shelby. The Roush GT is pretty much their finest product (not inc their Nascar products). And it is indeed a fine product.
