Right basicly i am think about getting a mk1 1.6 gti head and gearbox, putting a audi 80 2ltr bottom end to it, with a mk1 gti 1.8 cam and sticking a weber on top and sticking it in my mk2 golf which is a 1.6 driver. Does anyone know if this would work. Does anyone know if it would be any good.
    cheers, nick

1.6 gti heads are flat and have on chambers and would need diffrent pistons to work
with the 2.0 bottom end better to use a 1.8 or 2.0 head

You can use the gearbox, and unless you use the whole 1.6 engine (25 bhp more than your driver) then you can't use the head.

The gearbox will help, as the 1600 GTI has a lower ratio diff. It'll cost you in MPG though.

even if it's doable, most probably it will run like sh*t, cos' all this parts weren't designed to work together, and no one will no how to tune that.
why do you want a gti head if you'll run it on a weber?
if you want a 2.0 bottom end why not throw in a complete engine?
