I have a SS 4 branch manifold which is going in the mk2 soon, should i wrap it or not?

I have read stories of Mild steel manifolds cracking, and breaking up. and stories or steering gaitors and hangers melting.

Whats the crack? obviously being an 8v on ITB's[:D] heat is a big problem to me[:x] .

    Should I or Shouldn't I

Well if heat is a problem then I'd wrap it :)

I've seen some companys void warrentys on manifolds that have been wrapped. And yes the mild steel type do crack around the flanges, wrapped or otherwise.

A stainless heat shield between the manifolds will do a good job, works ok on mine.

or have it ceramic coated inside and outside - job done - about 160 for a 4 branch - see camcoat in warrington

as said by robT - ceramic coating.. big reduction in radiated temps..
cracking in the main is down to insufficient control of engine movement and or poor flexi joint arrangement..

just wrap it with heat tape....think under 20 quid for whole manifold
i used stainless steel wire, rather than the awkward steel snap locking rings.
smells of burning for a few miles which is worrying at 1st.
