I am trying to take off the near side drive shaft of a Mk2 Golf and have managed to shear the inside of the bolt heads for the inner cv joint.

Was using star fitting sockets instead of splined sockets. [:$]

I have managed 4 but 2 are sheared.

Any ideas for getting them off before I wreck them further??

Going to get the splined sockets but doubt they will now get the bolts out.

    Thank you

Tough as old boots too,i've put them through hell before so don't hesitate to gige them a whack with a lump hammer to get a propper grip ;)

you mean youve rounded them off on the inside? bolt grips wont fit over the heads as theres not enough room around the bolts to get it on. youre going to have to cut the heads off with an angle grinder and then remove the studs once the inner cv is off. should be able to get new ones from vw.

id gamble on there being enough space. worst case, hammer a larger spline bit on!!

    Sorted.
Hooblah, you were right about there not being enough space for the bolt grips.

Luckily I hadn't thrashed the bolts to death and managed to get the new spline bit to catch on both bolts so very happy!!

    Thanks to all
