I have a set of W78 plugs that i bought ages ago.

    I think i bought them when i had a 1.8gti mk1 cab.

Are these the same for a 1992 mk2 8v digifant? If they arent will they cause any damage/ill effect to the engine?

    I think so.

But why would you want to use them? They don't do anything for power, and some Golf engines really hate them.

They are taking up room on my desk and the mk2 needs a service.

I'm not a believer in 'performance plugs', i think i paid 7 for 8 of them.

If i fitted them could they do any damage if they were the wrong ones?

Sound like the Bosch 4-electrode plugs.

They are a colder (if I have got it the right way around) plug, so they will take longer to heat up to proper working temp. Can't remember which nes I have in my GTI but I will go and have a look in a minute for you.

I bought a set of these a while ago too 'cos they were cheap, but they're still used as a paper weight on my desk

In the end I used the 3 prong W7 DTC bosch plugs on my Digifant, but I'd like to know if they're ok to use too!
(sorry, this doesn't answer your qn[:$])

I don't think they could damaged the car.

The GSF catalogue lists W78s as a replacement for W7DC and W7DTC

    For W7LTCR you need W78x

I'll use them anyway, if it blows the engine up then good! I'll have to get the 2.0 lump then [:D]

Cheers for the replies everyone

Your supposed to use the triple core plugs in a digi i think. I usually use NGK ones as i can get them for 1.50 each ;)

Not sure if using the wrong plugs will damage the engine but they may cause starting/firing problems......

I would if i could get a cheap 2.9 but they dont exist.

I'm challenging myself to doing this car for less than 2000 inc the cost of buying it in the first place.
