Driving home this evening, car not feeling quite right, didnt start well at all, feels lumpy. then all of a sudden power just cuts out, back off the accelerator and power jumps back in, until i get to about 2000rpm and it goes again. Limp home a bit like this and then it all seems to turn back to normal. Any ideas?? [:^(] [:^(] [:^(] Edited by: Macca
A dodgy earth connection?? Had it before on a different make of car though!! Could even be the dis cap arking across the leads Edited by: ValverPaul
thanks was f**king around today trying to get my friends pooeron to start with the jumpleads, this could have summat to do with it Edited by: Macca
yes it could, you can cause transients that can damage your ecu if it was not done done properly, dont think this would cause your problem though, so im bugger all use
Mine did something similar when the ecu was knackered. Wouldn't rev over 5000 then when i let off the gas i got a boost of power [TIP] I would edit your first post and put "VR6" in the title to draw the attention of Phatty, etc...
Help me phatty!! Really hope ive not fried the ECU trying to help jump start my housemates piece of crap car. Im hoping the poo in the fuel tank is the cause. I filled it up today as it was getting fairly low and it seems to be running better now, still feels a bit odd though.
could be the connection on the ECU and if the grounding is bad it could fry your ECU!!! better check it out!!
you need to start by getting the diagnostics checked. could be loads of things, ecu, coilpack, ht leads, cam chain tensioner letting go, etc.
Try an ECU reset - disconnect the battery for 10 minutes - and if the fault is still present after a good run then you need to get the car on VAG-COM. I will give it a read if you can pop round. I live near Manchester.
Thanks for the offer steve, but i live in southampton mate, bit of a trek up to manc. didnt know u could reset the ECU that way.
I bought VAG-COM when I had a Corrado and will help anyboby nearby with a reading as it sits doing nothing now I have a Mk2. I have an OBD style connector so can read any OBD2 VW/Audi from the early 90's on. As I say, I live near Manchester.
