Hi everyone I’ve been restoring the WUR with a repair kit so it’s in bits. shall I drill a hole in the brass plate at the back to allow adjustment, even if I might not want to mess with the adjuster ? What’s everyone’s views on this?

Believe you need correct gauge lines and suitable gauge ,I think someone mentioned the kit can be purchased on Ebay ,was going to do this but couldn't justify price to import for one adjustment so just cleaned and tested mine and it was fine .
Seems to be there are gains to be found IF you have the right gear to do it ,sure others will come forward with more info ,cheers.

I think I will drill the hole and plug it so it’s there if a specialist adjusts it. That way I can make a clean hole, clear any swarf and avoid damage to the intervals as it’s bits anyway. I’m not buying any gauges anytime soon!

As above you need gauges plumbed in to adjust the WUR I think the magic control pressure that Stealth does is 48psi. It is a long time since I had one done.. 2002 I think!

IMG_5794.jpeg After what seems an age the rebuild kit arrived from Germany and the thing is back together. Quite fiddly but the results looks good.

Looking good... careful though, this could be the start of taking an interest in K-Jet!

@Matt Golf I'm trying to gather up some info. on these, particularily the ratings for the different thermal elements.

There's quite a few variations, even across VW's... Yours'll have a Bosch number on the top at the vent pipe, it'll be 0 438 140 then a final three digits.

If you can, could you post up that number and the Ohm rating (it'll have been printed on the green ceramic that slides over the bi-metal arm), it may well be one I don't have.

    Thanks.
