I picked up some leather heated seats for my mk3 (complete with looms and switch) along with leather door cards, black interior plastics and carpets from a VR6 highline, oh and some rear lights and side repeators for a complete and utter steal (i'll not say so don't ask lol)

So, i used the long trip to see what real world mpg i was getting on wvo...

This was before i topped up the veg tank...

with this 20 litres/15 worth of wvo...

put in to get the fuel gauge just above half way...

So, numerous hours later, after a round trip from GU34 to NN16, i had clocked 237.7 miles gps

or 226miles on the cluster (791-565=226)

As you can probably tell by the gps average speed, i set the cruise at max legal speeds as and where i could and i think there was more veg oil left on the gauge than before i topped up before setting off (check the pics for yourself). I got caught in traffic on the M25 on the way up but the return journey was plain sailing.

So, this is a very rough calculation but still a good indication of whats occuring on wvo

    gps mpg= 54mpg
    cluster mpg= 51.3mpg

Either way, not bad, yes i could have got more if i cruised at 56mpg etc etc but the point of me documenting this was to show real world mpg figures produced at the fastest legal speeds while using wvo.

Still can't believe it only cost me 15 to do near on 240 miles

so about 75p a litre cheap, and mega miles too. I had a td jetta once over and i would run that on any old dirt, never misssed a beat. smoked a lot though!!!

currently have a seat inca van but work provide fuel so no point in a wvo convesion .

do you think there is any more scope for increased economy?

Increased economy at max legal speeds? Yeah, for sure, at this kind if mileage it would benefit from a head rebuild, new nozzles and a 2 1/2" exhaust system along with a de-cat

I'm happy with how my car is running so I'll leave the propane/diesel for others to try and report on...I have 60litres of veg oil left to use before my conversion has paid for itself [8D]

From what i can seeX propane injection is popular in the states, but they use dump systems and guess the size of nozzle and flow to use based on engine size. These kits are plentiful on ebay, but this type of system is 'OK' for low compression yank tanks. But high compression diesels, especialy turbo diesels, makes the dump system too hit and miss. You can either cause internal damage or egt related damage, or waste too much gas for it to be viable.

Im still trying to find a cost efective electronic controller to meter the gas based on egt, boost and IQ

Mind you saying that, the meth injection kit i have ordered has a digital progressive controller baseing flow on egt and boost, and can be mapped for maf aswell.... Perhaps it could control a lpg injector. And theres always megasquirt......

Yeah, I talk to them first though and ask about the process they use and where they mainly get it from...chip shop oil is the best apparently...this bloke has been running wvo for over six years

    eBay...just search for wvo

For comparison, I topped the Audi up with 63.45 of diesel and got just over 43 litres for the same cost as my 100 litres of wvo

I've found a nice supply of virgin rapeseed oil...so, after removing the guts of the cat I did 280 miles using just 20litres. This works out at 63.6 mpg [8D]
