have you connected the gauge to the regulator ( the two pin cylinder in post 1) if not it just earths the gauge out and it will shoot up to 5,ans if you start the engine the needle will wag (did on mine anyhow)

    I have a few questions,

What gauge of wire should I use? 8amp, 15 amp?

Can I piggy back off the wires that go to the cigarette lighter?

With regards to fitting the connecting the oil pressure I have a spare connector on the oil housing on the ABF? Can I plug into that?

1)not sure on ampage of wire i just used the loom from the audi coupe, looks quite thin
2)if you connect to cig lighter your gauges will be live all the time unless yours is wired to ign
3)no you need to get a twin poll sender and find the pressure rating on it then replace the oem sender on the housing, that small sender is for oil temp

look for an in feed by turning the ign on and make sure everything else is off, connect a test lamp up by placing the croc clip to earth and probe some wires around the ign barrel until your test light lights up,or find a wiring diagram for the raddo and pin point an ign feed to use
you can get the sender from demon tweeks,go over this thread again theres lots of info in it

    Ok.

Does it have to be a twin pole sender or can it be a single one?

Secondly do I need the T piece or can I just plug the sender into where the existing switch is?

twin pole if you want to replace an existing oil pressure warning switch, single pin if you have a spare oil feed hole to put it in. T piece is required if you dont have enough oil holes, I'd only use the T piece for oil temp as with pressure it might give a false reading. one thing you can do is bin the mfa oil temp sensor, then you have an extra oil tapping to play with.

with an abf you have enough holes to run a vdo oil + temp gauge and the mfa if you use a 2 pin pressure sensor. there is a spare hole on the back of the head to put your oil temp (or the filter housing if you moved the mfa sensor to back of head)

Thanks, I am only running the oil pressure and volt meter as I was just going to use the MFA for the oil temp.

On my ABF there is an unused sender. Nothing is plugged into that. Can I plumb the sender into that? shown here

its on the left hand side? Just has a sender plugged into it?

yep! might need to switch the vdo sender to the top spot for clearance, then move the oem pressure sender to the unused spot.

    You sir are a star!

So I can just move the blue wire and the sender to that spare spot and put the sender in the top and jobs a good un?

(apologies for all the questions, I am slowly getting my head around it)

something like that, b ut that one again is the wrong thread. as for the rating, that depends what rating your gauge is. 0-5bar need a 5 bar sensor, 0-10bar need a 10bar one.

I finally got around to wiring these in and it was pretty easy with some help :)

I used the ignition live from the steering column black/yellow wire.

Simular to above I'm using the rear of the abf head oil temp sender and I get false readings 130 on the gauge 95 on the mfa.

The oil pressure gauage just sits on 5 bar. I replaced the white sender with my twin pole audi sender.
