And just for all those that think it will look better on the original amber clusters - voila!

That's me 100% period correct now. All OEM plus according to Matt. Do I win a badge or something?

I haven't touched the mechanicals yet really. That might seal the deal

i prefer the half tint personally. i think you might have had the option of fully smoked back in the day though?

have you gone thru every part on the car to make sure they're all stamped pre-1986 though, otherwise no award for you

Tried the fully smoked lights but they made the rear end look a bit dull:

I'm working on something else for the rear that is rare and very, very 'right' for this car. It's Marmite for sure and I might hate it straight away, but it's removable and therefore worth a try.

 Yes! very original likening that.

I did see my golf in white with gold BBS alloys, with the outside silver and the centre gold did look rather tasty

I have a set in the store. Tried them but wasn't convinced. I'm sure they work on some colours though.

Heckblende? Hmmm, I have a love hate relationship with them too. The black/red ones look good but I am unconvinced by the multi-coloureds or the RGA ones with the writing on.

    No, bad taste IMO.

    Keep guessing....

No, but there was one on Ebay last week. I did consider it.

Knew I had a a photo of this. Hella blue rear clusters (as suggested) I tried them a month or so ago and wasn't enthralled with the look.

Time to let you know my little scheme. [}:)]

I've noticed the Golf is lacking in that the original body decals are missing. The tailgate has no black textured surround near the glass, there is no swage line trim either.

To address this I have been looking at the options and with a discussion thread in the Mk2 section decided to have a go and do a few Photoplops of the car with some decals installed. I have also decided to carry this out silver wheels are the only way and will tie in better with the interior theme .

    First up, from the front:
    A) Silver/Grey swage line
    [IMG]

    B) Silver/Grey swage line and early GTI sill stripe
    [IMG]

    And at the back:
Silver/Grey swage line and early GTI sill stripe. Votex 'Heckblende' tailgate decal (in the design reproduction stage).

    Constructive discussion welcomed......

In other news the steering wheel arrived and I took great pleasure fitting it. It's sexy!!!!

The leather is like new and has a great thick rim for hard cornering with. I like the badge area. It's really going to work with the seats and overall theme.

Fitted and looking good. Those front seats and door cards can't be retrimmed soon enough!)
