N/S arch looks decent after its strip down. the turret was painted when it had some welding done at the time of the engine bay refresh..so i'll give that a key and paint over it with the Raptor. I'll give it a spash ok hammerite Krust to convert the one tiny bit thats a bit brown (about the size of a 5p coin) and the rest will have that coating too then. Prime then paint. better get masking up IMG_20210306_170855 by Laxadams, on Flickr
bif of a day today. Started the day finding a parasitic draw on my wifes Transit Tourneo, fixed that then replaced the battery as the main one was FUBAR from weeks of being flat. finished stripping the n/s arch then did the o/s arch. Both treated with rust preventing metal treatment and then a few hours later they were both etch primed. Tomorrows plan is to mix up the raptor and roll that on in 3 layers using a smoth foam roller. This will give a nice light dimple finish which will be easy to clean and not give crud much to stick to. once thats done i'll apply some black schutz to key areas. Back in Black. this was after the first coat.. I have added a second and think this will probably be enough. i've also gone up over on the lip of the inner wing as the outer wing sits on that and it could be an area prone to damage when fitting the wing.. so a bit of protection there. Looks great Craig. Kinda sorry I didn't stick that level of protection on under my wing now. Ah well, one more thing for the body shop to worry about at the end of the year...
I know, the effort we go to for the areas that can’t be seen but they’re ultimately the parts that will rust first. So we’ll just be laughing at all the people with rusty cars
I'm hopefully putting on Raptor the weekend myself, tintable stuff. How long do you get with it before it starts drying?
using a roller about 30 minutes to be touch dry, i was doing a second coat on the hour. mix it in the bottle and keep it closed, then it stays in liquid form for longer.
Could just stick hot rod cycle fenders over the wheels to exhibit the work, Plymouth prowler style. Or schwimwagen.
