I am the vw timelord and have had many incarnations in a TSC style. Made my millions by people giving me their cars thinking their engines were fooked due to the oil spewing out of every seal and gasket. I would get the car and replace the blocked breather on the the back of the block and punt it on! Happy days

Scarey. Luckily most of you are not pushing LHD cars around. Drivers of G60s and similar Left-Hookers need to reinforce their bulkheads, or wear kevlar full body armour!

I'm surprised Eurospec haven't taken action on this tbh. Better to do a recall than face charges if someone gets killed. Of course it'll take someone getting killed to make them do something.
Smaller businesses are too hand to mouth to take this view. I've seen it in the UK and in Europe - they've got staff and rent to pay, so warranties and refunds don't come easy. If there's race use involved, forget it. There are no warranties.
I've finally dug these pics out of a flywheel that came off. One for the engineers to get into a fizz over Obligatory weight supplied!
Fatigue crack originating from the stress caused by the bolts acting as dowels once they came loose I would say. Is this your flywheel to destroy Chris? It would be interesting to cut out crack section and split them to see if rubbing existed either side of crack. It would be interesting to see if the holes had clean smooth chamfers and also that there as ample chamfer at the top of hole so as not to interfere with the radius between head and shank of bolt on the underside. Either way it looks like the bolts are coming loose for some reason, maybe the chamfer/radius interferes giving a false torque wrench reading, after a few cycles this interference would be pushed back, causing them to loosen. I wonder if oil, or say Loctite 620 was used? Both to get an accurate torque reading, and also for locking purposes(loctite) (this is nothing to do with torsional vibration if the bolts are tight)
Yes, it can be cut up as necessary, though chances are I don't have the equipment. What cuts need doing?
Cut out the cracked piece between bolt hole and centre bore. Break it then on crack if it doesn't/isn't broke already and look at both crack faces for rubbing.
