also tighten in the right sequence from middle outwards and diagonally to spread the gasket evenly, when i did my head bolts i couldnt get thre last 90 degrees i got bwt 45 then i ran it for a week or so then re tightened them and got the last 45 degrees, had no problems after, the last 90 is very scary tho i must admit i was gettin all religious, please god pleas dont snap
think i'll be doing the same as you Neil!! I've got 45degrees of the last 90 so will give it a final turn tonight!! Cheers
ah what a bunch of girls you all are, I've never had any trouble and I'm hardly he-man look at those muscles, oooh!!
So, does it matter how much time you leave between each torque setting and 90 deg's you put on the bolt? Is it best to do 40 and go away for a bit, then 60 etc etc?
I just do it all in 1 go following the sequence. i.e. nip em all up finger tight, then do all up 40 in sequence, then 60 in sequence, then 90 in sequence then last 90 in sequence. 5 head swaps so far and non have blown up (due to faulty head gasket at least )
just done my head gasket. it was easy with a 1.5m torque wrench. That bad boy goes up to nearly 400ft/p of torque without breaking on a 1" drive . Could do it with a finger. Found it in my shed and have used it for everything, not that i have found a bolt to take that force yet lol
