well did a wet compression test and again got 0psi [:^(] the head is coming off as we speak so.....wish me luck!
AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! [:^(] [:^(] [:^(] well the reason i have 0 compression in number 4 cylinder is due to the fact i have a hole in my piston!!! [:^(] [:^(] [:^(] head is perfectly fine, not even a scratch on it!! ah well its not all bad just means i have to fit my 3a 2l block earlier than expected!!
cant understand why it would happen tho, valves were opening and closing fine when i turned it over by hand, like i said not a mark on the valves or head, oil level was fine and no loss in pressure!
not too bad, did clean the pistons up tho 20k miles ago when new head was fitted! saying that tho, the valves on number 4 look like they have more carbon than on the other cylinders
im just guessing here but... maybe no.4 bore had a score mark or was just worn funny? maybe allowing oil to pass and burn? maybe then causing carbon build up,and a bad hotspot? burning a hole in piston? does this sound laughable and stupid? im still learning you see... Edited by: riley
Running lean? But the carbon buildup would suggest otherwise. What compression ratio were you running? Anything over about 11, except with a long period cam, might cause a burnout. I guess oil burns hotter than petrol, once it gets started, so the oil leakage idea might be plausible, but if oil was leaking in, surely compression would be leaking out earlier, so there would be less stress on the piston I'd think?! Have you changed your fuel lately?
Blocked or partially blocked injector. The extra carbon is probably just from the oil coming through the start of the hole, and getting baked onto the valves.
me too..... best get to the root cause of the prob, or you'll have the same prob, all over. I'd start with the injector suggestion myself, but have a good look at the inlet manifold gasket when you get that off too. Good Luck Mark
