Hey funkyfive, Did you go for this combination in the end? I only ask as I spent a few happy hours putting gear ratios together on a spreadsheet yesterday (before I read this thread!) and had reached the conclusion that I probably want a CDA/DPA box with VR final drive as that effectively gives you the same overall ratios as the VR CCM 'box (give or take a tiny diffference on 4th and 5th) I'm running a 16vG60 mk1, currently with 020 gearbox from a mk3 (CHE or similar) and want to change it to an 02A I started out thinking that I wanted a CBA box from a G60 with a taller 1st and 2nd from a VR, which looked better than the CDA/DPA (16v mk3) ratios but when you work it all out it still gives you very similar overall ratios to the CHE box that I have, and I'm struggling for traction in 1st and 2nd. CDA box with VR final drive and LSD could be the perfect solution - just wondered how you're getting on with it?
Hi Mike, I did indeed go with this combination in the end and its awesome, I also did put in a LSD and funny your timing is excellent as I have now broken the car up and the box is for sale, PM me if you would like to chat more?
