I was just wondering if anyone on here has used factory management in a mk2 and has a working diagnostic port without using the donor cars clocks?

    cant remember....?
Yep i have. You need the immobiliser defeated so the ecu doesnt kick up a fuss about not seeing the clocks or ignition barrel or key if your not using them either. When the loom is modded the diag port can be retained in the mk2.

Pm Andyout on here, he can hook you up.

Thanks Mush, I have the car up and running and the wires sorted for the diagnostic but haven't connected them yet. Immobiliser was deleted so I may just suck it and see..

I have 3 wires hanging, and connect them to the VAGCOM cable, and I can see everything correctly as well.

    I have it wired but no computer to check. Here's where I put it, I didn't want any wires hanging around;

pretty sure the diagnostics wire on the 1.8t ecu is always 43, but tell me which of the many 1.8t ecus you're using and I'll check

Thanks, it's the socket part from the s3 tiger sealed in. I thought it was a good idea anyways!!

I'm running an apy but think it is 43 I connected to, grey/white. I'll check the car tomorrow.

Definately not always, mine is a CG off an AGU and if I connect pin 43 to vag-com it stops the ECU from working, wont prime the pump or start.

I had to use pin 19, which would normally be the connection to the dash.

aha yes you're right, the ecu vag-com diagnostics pin on the AGU is indeed pin 19.
pin 43 runs to pin 13 of the diagnostics plug, not entirely sure what its for though

Am I right to use pin43 then? I'm waiting for vagcom but got a lend of a snap on code reader to clear faults but got the same sympthoms as boraboy. Car wouldn't start, woldn't prime, I got ****ed off. Disconnected the battery and went in for tea, came back out and connected the battery and away she went first turn?

Found some info that said you put 12v to pin 43 for reprogramming via OBD using an intermediate lead

    aha, nice work

and no, on the APY diagnostics is to pin 43 ;)

edit: but yeah, check your diagnostics plug pinout. I've seen some plugs from other models with the nwrong pinout to work with vag com

    4 - ground
    7 - diagnostics to pin 43
    16 - permanent live

    That looks spot on

Just what i'll be looking to do with mine.

Need to find the port and loom yet though from a donor AGU Mk4 or A3.

Also, is it true the AGU cannot be remapped through the diag port ? It has to be plugged directly into the ECU itself ?

Cant see it myself but have read it today on uk-mkivs. [:[]...

for mine i used a saab diagnostic port as it as the easiest to mount as it comes with suitable screw holes so you could mount it anywhere u like

This is true early ones need mapping directly through ecu, as can't do through port
