I just cant see how it can be that easy.

The guy says completely remove the mk2 engine loom but then nothing plugs back into the fuse box [:s]

It seems tooooooo easy to me.

just got of the phone to qpe.

they say that my mk2 16v box willl mate up to the agu 1.8t unit i have - will the mk2 16v box be able to withstand the increase in power???

also he said something about there being only 5 plugs that need to be connected along with live and earth....

i thinking of going down this route as after market management is just way to expensive and paying someone to fit / use ome management will work out just as much!!!

they say if i get me engine plummed in...they will tackle the wiring for us.....

wot do u think guys...any suggestions / idea / comments

i was planning to do this myself, just get the engine in and then revo chip it later or something. with the standard management system there are limtitations to it ive been told, but i think id be happy with around 200bhp. let me know how it goes!

I've just finished my MK2 conversion using the QPE plug and play kit. It
really is that simple. The new loom plugs into the digifant power
connector in the scuttle by the old ecu and thats it. If you dont have a
digifant its not that much harder, you just have to identify the live wires
to the old ecu and connect them up. QPE provide full instructions.

So did you remove the entire mk2 engine loom?

Yes, you remove the entire MK2 engine loom but leave the lighting loom
in. The qpeng loom plugs into the original tacho connection and you use
the existing wires for the dash temp gauge, oil pressure and oil temp.

You dont need to chip it as the ECU is fully programable so any changes
can be made by QPEng or any MBE dealer.

i take it theres's no plug and play kit for the 225 BAM engines?

I'd really like to go down the QPeng route but i want a stock 225 brake before its chipped.

I'm sure mk2_20VT is using a 16v box. Thats going to make 16v - 20vt swaps very easy!! Only the downpipe to worry about.

i think its a 2.0 16v box that people are using as found in mk3 golfs and passats. The code is 02A.

anybody care to agree with me?

    Sounds easy.

Not sure the MkII 16v 020 box will take the torque inceasre though. Have heard of people running rod change boxes and them not lasting very long. Would go for an 02A/02M cable change box every time.

Downpipes are now available so sounds like the install could be quick and easy. BUT, if you're upping the power then other things will need uprating too. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security that all the Valver stuff is up to the job to 20vT perfomance.

you have read my mind matey. must be some jedi flu going around [:D]
I have already been in talks with QPE about this very set up. they are currently making a kit on a jetta test bed. They said they will keep me posted. apparently the biggest prob is the down pipe interfering with the steering coloum on a mk2. i dont know if any body else has done this conversion yet? as i would be very interested in some info on installing the 225 engine.

i think thats why a custom downpipe is needed, for the clearance.

My plan is to have a complete 2.5" powerflow stainless exhaust from the manifold back.

PS: looks like i got find an 02A box for definate! I was hoping that i could somehow keep my current box. i kinda knew i wouldn't be able to though!! [8(]

so where do we source these custom down pipes?
are they an off the shelf item or do they need the car to get the fit right?
i have read some where that some people think a 3" system is best but there must be an issue with getting over the rear axle?

3" downpipe feeding onto a 1 silencer 2.5" system is regareded as the best solution. I believe richgit and others run this.

Almost always no one mentions the need to fit the hydraulic clutch pedal box and cable change mechanism for the 02A box .
