i would but ill be building it my self with some steel bits ;)
the thing i cant get my head around is,which would produce better power/torque with the same mods?
isnt the 20v(1.8) only 126 brake @ the fly to start with [:s] where as the 9a is 136?
cant make my mind up :)

a 2.1 20v would be awesome. The heads outflow a P & P 16v head by a significant amount by all accounts. Would cost alot to build but would be worth it. Id suggest the passat ALT 2.0 20v engine and spend money on other bits not boring and pistons etc, put towards some throttle bodies.

Now that would be a beast!

i'd go with a stock 2l 20v to begin with, then spend my money on good management and throttle bodies!

mate 800gs is the best person to ask. I really want to know if the ALT 2 litre 20v is an easy conversion in the mk2 and if it can run on k jet. What cams can i use in there etc like the KR cams? How much would the lump cost? What cars are they from year etc.

Anyone with any info please contribute.

riley i think as oakgreen88 said ALT lump the ITBs on a new EMS is the way to go.

You can't use KR cams in a 20v head

I'd like to know that too cos when I tentatively asked about putting the 20v head on ABF block over a year ago all I could get was 'some oil and waterways might not line up'.

its oilways on a ABF/9A block that dont line up when a 20V head is put on the top

When I get the chance I will take some pics

If you are serious then get hunting for an ALT 2L, but be prepared for a long wait whilst one comes up. Failing that you want a 1.8 ADR from an early passat or A4 Audi, these have the large port head which is an advantage

There are no huge issues in putting a head on a 16v block. If MAD20V did it for a while then its good enough for the rest of us.

In terms of carbs, ideal for a 20V. Get yourself a 20V inlet manifold from the states, dead easy

PM me if you want details on availability of ADR head's, or complete engines

    cheers m8
    few q's...
1/does the adr head bolt onto the alt with no issues?
2/and what was the alt from?
3/does the alt use the same mounting points as mk1,ie will it bolt straight in?
4/im guessing my supersprint ex manifold wont be any good?

cheers again, good info, will pm you as soon as my search starts when ive aquired a little more money/space. :)
