Im running the standard KR's as the 2.0 we built for my mates mk2 is running the exact same spec as mine but has the twin exhaust cams, so we wanted to compare. First impressions are that his has more off idle grunt, but mine runs smoother and im sure it pulls better at higher revs, though we will have to wait until we get them on the rolling road to find out :p

Nice one mate, the 2 litre is a lot nicer to drive isn't it? :p I agree with your comments about the twin exhaust cams, the KRs gave better torque/mid range on mine but the twin exhaust cams let rip at 5500-6000 more than the KRs , extended the useable revs by about 300rpm. Sounds like your DIY WUR mod worked a treat too

Drives so much nicer gary, poly bushed wishbones have really helped as well, the whole car feels so tight now. Will get it on the rollers as soon as I can to find out what it puts out. I've just had my cousin in it round my favorite bit of bends on the island, he couldnt get over how quick it was :p

[:D] , 6a all the way, Its good to see another one, give those 9a's and ABF'bloke's a run for their money.

I bet you wish you had done it earlier I know I do.

    Mines getting roaded next week.

Yeah, its the tidiest engine bay i've ever had anyway, thats for sure! Was well worth the wait of building it up and getting all the bits etc.

Bloody water hosing on the side of the head has split though (plastic) and its just dumped all the coolant on my driveway. Any ideas whether the one on the 6A head is the same? Its down at the garage and I cant remember whether it was the same as the KR one or not...

The plastic housing that bolts onto the side of the head is the same, I dont think the hose that fits over it is the same as the golfs, you could cut it to size [:s]

Exactly the same happened on mine. All that hassle for the sake of an 8
piece of plastic that I didn't replace just because it looked OK. The one on
the 9A is definitely the same as the KR so the 6A one might be the same
but I'd buy a new one anyway.

Do the Audi 80's have the same inlet manifold, or is that a mk2 item?
    The black looks [8D]

The 80 Inlet is a quite different from the Kr Smithy's is painted.

I thought the ABF and 9a were taller by 16mm than the 6a and KR blocks.
