I had TSR 285 combi at the front disk at rear mk1 servo and master cylinder, If I had to break on the motorway or in the wet front locked up instantly, I was told at the time they stopped doing the 285mm for the mk1 due to this problem and only recommened upto 270mm for it.

    Braided all round.

Trying 256mm front rear disks on campaign with 16v servo and MC, fitting rear's this weekend front and servo already on. [:D]

Fat bloke in Wales is a git. I know who he is and he looks like a steroid abuser that has never seen a gym
Half bottomd workshop they got too. I wouldn't say that his work looks shoddy, but I wouldn't go there!

1st time iv'e ever heard that TSR story?

Are you sure it wasn't the rear discs in the system that was causing the problems as they seem pointless for the mk1, more for show unless you have massive power? or maybe it just wasn't setup properly as mine are great?

hi all, i know this is an olt thread now but....

i went today to a fabrication place to see about mounting my mk4 calipers on mk1/rocco hubs and what the guy came up with is simply welding on some extra "lugs" onto the hubs then drilling and threading those out so the calipers bolt into hub. a better idea than using plates and its cheap haha.

I've got an Autocavan (Anyone remember them?!) 270mm brake conversion on my MK1.

I know TSR sold a 270mm kit, does anyone know what they used for their 270mm disks? (As I'm needing some replacments soon)

(I don't want to risk buying anything from them at the moment, so another supplier of 270mm disks would be great)

    Thanks

Rover 800 series as already said, but you'll need to turn them down too 270 from 285 and re-drilling for correct bolt pattern. Not sure if autocavan setup is the same as the "tsr" kit though? Click here

Thanks for finding that thread link. Very useful. After reading that, I'm glad I've got an Autocavan brake kit, rather than the TSR one!
Autocavan used correct offset/sized disks, rather than what TSR has done.

I was hoping TSR's disks would be 'off the shelf' to fit. Obviously not.

I'll just buy some G60 disks machined down to 270mm now.:)

My point was just about how easy it is to buy replacment disks.
If TSR stop trading, would there be problems getting (quality) replacment disks?

In hindsight, I wish I had bought the Autocavan 280mm kit instead of the 270mm kit for my MK1, as their 280mm kit uses straight forward standard G60 disks. So no messing about when replacing the disks.
