so i went out there lastnight, it was super cold, but with a bit of dutch courage i continued work on the mk2. i put everything back together after the clutch/box change, last thing i did was wire up the starter motor, it was ready for a trial run i put the big live back on the starter and then for some reason only put one of the other wires in. went to turn it over, it made a sort of click, but nothing happened when i go to start the car the speedo lights up, tacho jumps around. tried to jump start, eventually put both of the solenoid wires on, nothing what can stop an 8v PB from cranking over?
hope you put all the earths back coorrectly, ecu's make a click sound as they blow! that wont stop it crankking tho, it will just keep the fuel pump runinng constantly. does the engine turn by hand? take the plugs out and try it.
ive got a nasty feeling the ecu is now dead. there were all sorts of noises. the tacho was flicking up and down, clicking noises.... and yes the injectors were spraying away but it wont crank i tried the solenoid wiring in both directions, nothing. maybe the earth on the gearbox mount bracket is dirty etc. ill get that off and clean that mofo
Well he had the speedo cable in the inspection hole the first time so that could have been the click noise as it tried to turn over lol.
as for battery being flat, we put jumper leads on from the mk3 so that shouldnt have been a problem. headlights seemed fine
that was noticed when the gear linkages were being done. that would have been funny tho... seeing the cable get tangled in the flywheel and then see the flywheel trying to suck the gearbox into the engine via the inspection hole i dreamt about driving the mk2 lastnight, i think its a sign that its going to work
when i start it itll have to go up in flames then when i get back there tonight ill get that earth off the bracket and earth the gearbox directly like the mk3 does.
from what i saw, it almost looks like i could pop my ABF POWERHOUSE OF FURY onto the 8v subframe. that would rock so much
oi fellas, if i take one of the starter motor/engine mount bolts out and have the earth going through that, ive got a feeling that will be the best earth possible for. am i right?
