Why are you bothered about it anyway Mr.Christ?
I'm sure you could get the job done for 50 quid and fit it in 15 minutes

I'd be interested to find out more. Might give the incompetent fools at my own dealership a ring tomorrow and see what they say.

Because I think you've misunderstood, or the bloke at your dealership gave you the wrong idea. 35, 12 minutes.

Back in August when i had a little engine problem i was quoted nearly 800 for a reconditioned (as good as new) 9a short engine from vw and that was for exchange with an identical engine code. As i had a KR block it would have cost me well over a grand. (all prices plus vat)

Don't want to sound brash or harsh, but what kind of fool would pay 2000 for a 2.0ltr lump???

i agree, but people do, thats why i started the thread.
Colbournes quoted me 750 quid all in for a block without exchange.
i guess it depends who you know.
But then again someone always wants to take a leak on something good.

So, GolfVR6 - did you manage to get it totally wrong all by yourself, or do the blokes at Colbournes who you have been dealing with for years actually "talk poo" as you so succinctly put it?

Like I said. He assumed you would know it was exchange, so he didn't mention it. You obviously didn't know.

    Just out of curiosity........

Does anyone actually know of anywhere cheap and reasonable to get a reliable 2.0ltr fitted, that aint going to cost 2K?!

Not disagreeing with you GolfVR6 is one thing buying the engine the question is how much would it cost you to get it in the car!

Yes mate whatever you say, i know i will get the block for that price without giving them an exchange unit. It all depends who you know.
It seems to me that you have your head stuck up your own arse, as you can't take it when someone else other than yourself has some knowledge and something to offer others.
The Second coming - you are not the bollox, you talk bollox.
Engine in and out, separate gearbox and refit, in 1.5 hours on a vr6, that what you reckon isn't it?
One may be forgiven for thinking that you do infact talk lots of chocolate.

So now the thread isn't about the fact that VW are selling this block at that price, but the fact that your "special friend" at VW will sell youthe block at that price? Depends on who you know?
Learn when to admit you're wrong.
