    Yes, those are these ones:

    - what age is his? In theory it should be late model. I'd only heard concrete stories of VR and TDI up 'till now.

The part number and ET off those would interesting to get hold of if poss?

if the centre bore is too big the wheel wont centre properly and result in dangerous wheel wobble :)

My point is, if the size you need to make up is too small or just not available you cant get spiggot rings that will fit.

If you've got to get things made up so the cheap wrong wheels fit your car, there's something wrong in your wiring, surely?

Ok, get some adapters made to fit Lambo wheels on your Golf but getting stuff made to fit some Mini steel wheels on it, is a bit... [:s]

Dont quote me on this, but lookign at the Passat syncro 94-97 I've found steelies that look like G60 ones in both 4 and 5 stud, 15x6j, ET35.
    The 4 stud ones are the G60, 5 stud are part # 3A0 601 027 091, but deleted :(

Thanks John - something to go on [:D]

From chatting with peeps, definitely there are some late Passats around with these, though I have a feeling they may be hiding behind wheel trims, hence no one sees them.

And the next question, unrelated to this thread, is given those cars were 5-stud, what wishbones did they have, what ball joints, hubs and driveshaft bare lengths.... ?

It's entirely possible there are two Passat drive shaft lengths out there...

that's the crazy word of the "scene" Gary.

having fcked about with spigot rings to get a set of team dynamics to fit the golf, i promised never to do it again.

It seems the 5 stud passat has different wishbones to the 5 stud golf, although the ball joint and hub is the same. Now theres something I didn't know!

    wishbones are 357 407 151 A and 357 407 152. The driveshafts for the 5 stud VR6 model are 1h0 407 271 CX and 1h0 407 272 CX, The ABF has the same left shaft but the right shaft is 1h0 407 272 PX.
These numbers are the same for the MK3 Golf ABF and VR6 as well

Some interesting info, possibly time for a new thread?

I've got to see one of these Passats sooner or later to see what's going on! I just assume the wishbone/ball joint/hub combination is fixed & can't be altered.

Definitely balljoint and hub come in pairs, due to the angle of that VR/5-stud balljoint pin design.

Can VR balljoints be got into 4-stud Passat wishbones, ie do the three fixing bolts line up on the wishbone? (ignore the hub)

The ABF driveshaft - woah, I'm lost there!

you can modify a 5 stud balljoint into 4 stud bone and vice versa, just make the wishone holes a little bigger to suit. problem is though the hub ends up in the wrong spot as the end of the wishbone sits further forward or back on the 5 stud bone, cant remember which way it is

this might be different on the Passat bone, no idea. I assume the different length on the abf shaft is to do with the gearbox, is the VR box thicker in the diff area than the normal 02a? if not i assume its just a bit beefier on the vr.

Go to a dealer, a new set of G60's shouldn't be more than about 150? Worth it if you ask me considering they're nice looking wheels and have a good resale value should you change your mind later.

Or you could just buy some nice alloys instead of those skinny, ugly, cheap looking, overpriced, overrated steels.
