Not sure that 7 minutes was a fair amount of time!:)

But I have started the stop watch now.

Check the N45 for me. Cos that's what is printed on the sticker!:o

    Re:Birth certificates

Forget about Volkswagen for birth certificates let's just give our money to RJ because let's face it he knows a more about them than the crowd that made them in the first place.

There may be only one Volkswagen motor company but there is only one " VW Oracle" and he goes by the name of "rubjonny"

Come let us bring gifts (and money!) and worship the Oracle!

    no luck with G 49, N 45 or N71 I'm afraid :(

But I went thru and typed out a load of option codes. It seems M ... codes were used from 84-88, then from 89-90 they switched to P ... codes. Not sure why but hey ho.

    Thanks for the effort, rubjonny.

A while ago I went through a similar exercise on the Audi 90, on some Audi forums.
    Lots of weird codes:
    8J x 18" wheels in 1991? No chance. Quite a few had this. Mine was correct 7J x 15
205 x 50 x 15 tyres on those wheels? Not by any stretch of the imagination, but correct on mine.

I recon that, over the years, they have re-used codes without realising it?

I have lost all faith in the VAG systems. I'll now stick to yours:thumbup:

I asked for my money back, and got this rubbish:

    Dear daved,
Im so sorry, but we can only write down the options on the certificate we can identify. The options of your Golf MKII G49 and N71 are not mentiond in our files. I hope you understand us.

    Mine's come through.

Not a huge amount on it, but I'm not massively bothered.

    B 17 option code anyone?

I'd be intrigued with the length of time between the date mine was built to when it left the factory

i can give you a rough manufacture date from your vin number, and i can also tell you when your engine was made roughly. obviously better to pm these codes ;)
i think it tells you when it was made on the inside of the service book though?

I've just sent for my car's birth certificate. I know it doesn't give you a huge amount of information but it's nice to have it....I had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket anyhow.

After paying 35 euros & waiting 7 weeks my certificate has just arrived & it's wrong. Wrong colour & it says it left the factory on 29th Jan '88, this can't be right as it was delivered to the first owner in England on 7th Jan! :(

That's what I'll be doing if my certificate doesn't have the correct services. If you have supplied the correct details and the mistake is theirs then I would like to think that they will supply you with a new certificate with the correct details.

I have emailed them regarding the mistakes, so let's see what happens!

After reading through this thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=398 on the Samba.com it seems the info they provide is very hit & miss. Loads of people have got certificates with mistakes (the wrong colour, model, dates, options etc).
