So I think we might be getting an Allroad on a W reg 2.5tdi, leather, quatro. Full service history from Audi, 2 owners, and it's gonna have a cam belt change, service and front disk and pads.
It's a manual but the wife didn't like it(too old for her likings) so we're going for something different.
Yeah, in glad we didn't get it. Today we picked up the wife's new car though, 56 reg Seat Altea 2.0 tdi stylace in black. She loves it
dont give up on the tdis, get a PD 115bhp and you will be laughing! my old mk4 was on 200k on orig turbo and clutch! all because it was looked after and the turbo was mint! no play, 50+mpg all day long! my 2.0l tdi is on 140k now and still going like a trooper, the mpg is a bit less avg 45-48 but it does weigh about 400kg more than my old mk4 estate! (im after a mk5 golf estate or late mk4 estate in the next 12 months when the wife gets the audi as her daily)
some of the late mk4s are RAMMED with toys, leather etc..bargains to be had there! nice choice, im actually looking to somehow swap my wifes 54 fabia VRS for an Altea XL tdi at the mo
Bit of a wasted effort though, spend ages looking for one, probably pay a premium for it and its only a 110 diesel so its not like it needs the quattro system, all you are doing is carrying around excess weight and getting less mpg than a front wheel drive one.
I'm thinking about going this route too. So far my list of possible cars are: Volvo V40 Volvo V70 Audi A4 Estate Audi A6 Estate BMW 320d Touring BMW 318i Touring Mondeo Estate TDCi 406 Estate HDi
320d's a bloody good car, almost bought a 2001. They have an issue where the flaps in the intake become loose and can get sucked into the engine AFAICR.. they can be replaced easily with uprated ones. Better mpg than A4 B6 TDI and better chassis than all the rest, they come standard with removable tow bars too watch out for buggered flywheels on some of the others
I looked at 320s, but the boots pathetic compared to the audi and my old mk4 which was massive! also the newer ones with 18s ride shocking!!!
yep boot space is comprimised.. my old mk3 golf estate was wider and almost as long as my B6.. hard ride...is that the run flat tyres?
partly, the newer ones work better with the run flats... but the one I was in was a 58 plate with the M pack... looked good but I had a bad back after a 5 mile trip in the back,
Seen a 'W reg' A4 TDi in Silver with big alloys that looked really smart Is that going to be the newer shape car?
