First thing I'd do is drain the carb and clean the points ;).

If it's a typo - P1631 is an accelerator pedal related code.

    As is P1634..

    Yes was a typo.

So course of action is pedal first. Then if fault remains O2 sensor ecu

    Thanks guys

Ok guys new pedal installed the engine management light has now gone off. But now it does the complete opposite and revs as if the pedal is pushed to the floor.

I'm guessing this could bea wiring issue am I right the pedal is wired straight to the ecu then from there to the TB?
Is it a case of tracing them all?
    Thanks guys

I think you have to do a Throttle body adaption for it to work correctly

    o'dear lol
i think most of that is for the secondary air pump

the pipe with the cloth is anyway should go into the airbox
i think the other two pipes are vac pipes off the inlet to do with the suction pump/ carbon fillter
but dont quote me on it

To aid any issues with debugging this problem, here is the wiring path from the Pedal to the ECU.

As you can see it is a fairly direct link to the ECU, via a blue connector, that you may want to still check for continuity.

    Hope this helps

Ok got on it today I've got Continuity from the blue plug to the pedal.

How does the ecu plug come apart without breaking it? I need to gain access to the wires some how

It has a slider on it like a lid. Mine also had a little cable tie that needed cutting off before I could slide it.

All wiring replaced and no change.

    New pedal no change.

Do you think the ecu has died?
From what I understand these are programmed to the clocks is this the case?

aye the ecu would need matched to the clocks ie you would need the pin of the clocks and the new ecu thats if it's 2001 or newer
if it's a older mk4 it's easier as you dont need a immo pin for the ecu or the clocks for changing the ecu

i'v done a bit of messing about with this so know most of the in's and out's lol of getting the skc pin from the clocks and ecu lol

you would need some with vag-tacho vag-commandor and vcds ie vag-com

a other option you do get places that repair ecu's
