I've been reading a few threads now over the last couple of weeks on different forums, and it seems people all over are getting fed up with seeing the same old MK2's on BBS Split rims.

    - Am I missing something? - The first thing that got me into VW's was a picture of a MK2 sitting sweetly on a lush set of RS's. IMO, no other wheel is better suited for it.

I know it's all good and well seeing a bit of variety, but the reason we see so many MK2's with BBS Splits on, is because so many think they're best suited.

I went for something a bit different and got the centres painted Oakie:

BBS RS's & RM's are classic wheels which look great on mk2's, I think.
Cue numerous " BBS splits are shit" posts
At the end of the day, if you don't like them, don't put them on your car.
There are loads of other wheels which really suit the mk2, i.e Ronal Turbo's, the wheels on Andy's car ( powertechs ? ) RH Cups, Compo's etc. It's all down to personal choice really.
As said above, it was a mk2 golf on BBS RS rims which got me into VW's in the first place.

What was it that you never liked about them? Was it the style of the wheel, or the look of the wheel on a MK2? etc...?

But the painted centre ones i like.

    I have a set of 8.5 & 9s on my car now...

They have been done to death but they suit the Mk2 down to the ground :)

I have not seen one Mk2 with BBS' on whilst out driving but only at shows which i attend maybe 4 times a year, so i wouldnt not get them because there common at shows...

Yeah, they are common at shows and in mags etc, but I have never seen another mk2 with RS's on when i've been out driving.

    Gotta love these aswell:

If BBS were never invented, I'd snap a set of these up and do the centres green.

Cleaning split rims is a pain in the arse. - But the results are worth it! :)

Yea the 16's go for megabucks in 4 stud! - Might be worth getting 5 stud hubs or hub adapters maybe?
