Best gear lever selector for 02a cable change in Mk2 golf

yeh thats the tower , possibly need the lower bearing/housing it fits into , just 2x bolts underneath the gearbox

 

Yes, You need an 02J tower. You will also need to use that cable holder that you have on your MK4 shifter as it holds them at different angles.
As pigbladder says, You might need to change the lower housing depending on what gearbox its going into. G60's has a small bearing and all VR6's had the larger one that you need.

 

What does the lower housing look like and how does it come off/out the box?

The end result is a G60 rado 02A but I'm sourcing a VR6 box for the gears and final drive so could I take the lower housing/bearing from that, put it in the g60 box and then use the full mk4 shifter setup with it?

 

oval plate with a tube that accepts the lower part of the tower...as said its 2xbolts then it drops off from under the box , might need a tap as its sealered on too
