    Hi.
Can anyone give me any advise. Im looking to get a good induction kit for my Golf mk3 GTI 8v just to add a good sound to the engine. Was looking at going for K & N but was also thinking BMC.
Anyone got any feedback for me?
    Thanks

The best induction kit is... none !

Unless you feed cold air to it and try to shield it from the rest of the engine bay it'll draw in warm air... not good.

If it's just looks and induction noise yr after it'll do a good job, but unless you do the above you'll see little (if any) power gain.

Before even reading your reply I was saying that as i read the topic header !

If your looking for power gains (re air intake) then consider an after market panel filter, some people would say drilling the side of the box (inner wing), but personally i think you shouldnt as it still will cause heat soak ! In stead remove all the internal from the airbox inc the hot air intake and put in an after market filter !

Im currently using a PiperX panel filter with a Jetex Cat back systems and am very happy with it. A lot of people will say K&N and for between 10-15 cheaper for the piperX and not much difference between the two I decided on the PiperX

i just ordered a k&n pannel filter for my mk3, i have put a few holes in the bottom of my airbox , thinking its pretty much the same deal as having an induction kit ( minus the extra 50 or so quid ) , guess it depends if ur after a nice lookin bay? what air sensor type is urs as i have a hitachi one and have only found 2 induction kits which will fit so far

Im not 100% sure what air sensor tyoe mine is, i should really check.
Ive heard the PiperX in my mates 2,0 16v and it sounds really good i think i might go for the PiperX. Id like to hear the K & N but there most probably wont be any difference.

def have a check coz i think there are just three, bosch and seimens are the ones most kits are available, the only 2 i found for the hitatchi are pipercross and k&n and prob sound pretty much the same. are u plannin on gettin a backbox or exhaust aswell? or could just do the old skool nova trick whipping out the airbox and stick a pair of tights over the hole haha!

if you want noise, get a cone.

if you want the best perforamnce, find my threads on how to mod the airbox without drilling it

    et voila

Yeah but over a standard paper filter you will notice how much easier it pulls through the revs...

So overall a panel filter would be the best, instead of a cone?
The panel filters are about 35?

I agree with Matt, use a route finder as i could give you the wrong directions. But head into Glasgow, then towards Shawlands, Iglinton Toll is where the roads come together and there is a Shell garage and a bus depot
