I need some tyres for the golf, I've currently got a mismatch of crap on there (i'm not sure if it was because it was raining and slippery or i'm not used to the amount of power the car has compared to my Polo) but it was just spinning the wheels up all the time, in places where do the same speed and accelerating at the same pace in the polo it wouldn't struggle at all and before I start driving it properly I want to replace them all anyway.

Having a look about and a read, i've been looking at either the Continental PremiumContact 5 or GoodYear EfficientGrip Performance. Both get good reviews and seem to be pretty good grip wise.

Now, I do rag it around 99% of the time, if it is safe to do so and start work early and finish late so rarely many cars on the road, which means I can drive faster than normal. So would like something with decent amount of grip.

They need to be 195/50/15's please :)

^^ Someone recommended the Unisports, but I'd never heard of them before.

^ I've just finished reading all 29 pages of your build thread, well done. It's such an amazing example! Love the wheels, not a fan of the colour. Or the Red in general to be honest ;)
Them tyres look mean, i'll have a look into them. Thanks :)

And here you go ..this is bang on the money and you can check other tyres against them same place.
I like to drive on and like to know what I have between me and the road is the best I can put on.

Just Googled it and was a bit concerned about wet grip but having read the reviews I'll never have the balls to push it that much in the wet.

Now to look for the best price! They aren't cheap! :O

I do like your red golf but wouldn't own one myself.. Maybe.. Maybe not.

75 a corner, damn! My Polo set was 135 for 4. Everything is so much more expensive for this car!

Dunlop Sport BluResponse are in the same class as Efficient Grip and tend to do better in tests. Difficult to find a test with the Uniroyal Rainsport 3. Pros price, wet grip. Cons seem to be no rim protection, higher noise and depending on how you look at it higher wear and rolling resistance. The latter two could be a plus at this time of year. All the A rated wets seem to have soft sidewalls which doesn't make them great for your thread title.

EDIT: I forgot the other critical thing is which is to check the shelf age of the tyres if you have the chance. The date code is week number/year so this week would be 0316.

What about the Kuhmo Ecstas? I think they are a decent tyre and a bargain

Federal Rs-R?? seams to have good reviews and good value for money at around 60 a corner

Are the AD08R also a semi slick road legal Tyre? was having a look and there seams to be a few different variations a lot of price difference too.

I currently use R888s but they don't last very long for the money they cost.

Camskill have a great price on the Rainsport 3 @ under 31, but I wonder about the age of the stock.

I highly recommend the Rainsport 3 as a everyday road tyre.

I originally bought mine as wets for trackdays then ended up using them on the road on my daily and love them.

I think I will stick with mytyres it works out at 7 more for two UR3. My Eagle F1's from them were only a month old despite being 35 and discontinued.
