Thought some may like to see an old GTi Engineering brochure I found in my loft.
It contained a price list from 1988/9 so I guess thats when its from and it also coincides with an invoice I still have for a service and a full Jetex Exhaust System from them in 1989. I still remember that drive back from Silverstone. [:D]

    Happy Days indeed. :)

    Yes & no.

GTI Engineering was Richard Lloyd (RIP) [there is a tribute thread with some race cars on it], Brian Ricketts + others.

Brian Ricketts left to set up BR Motorsport.

GTI Engineering was later sold to BBR (Brodie Britain Racing), Ford exponents. The name stayed, and now exists as http://www.morego.co.uk (TURN COMPUTER SOUND DOWN IF CLICKING).

Here is today's GTI Engineering site: http://www.morego.co.uk/bbr-gti/gti.php

Really over time the meaning of it to the purist has diminished. Back in the day, these and a few others were the people.

    Interesting stuff indeed.

Do you think the "free pint with this issue" offer still stands?
I will start printing that page off to sell in the classifieds.

Does anyone know the identifying marks used by Brian Ricketts Motorsport? Have an 8v head with B R marked on it. [:s]

There is some history right there.

Swear there was a scirocco near mine that had those ATS style 27 on recently, never stopped to look.

Immense stuff, historical information on another level. This is when it was very big, people spending an awful lot of money on Golfs.

bones will be loving this info if he hasn't got it already.

Any more info you have on engine conversions would be fantastic.

The poor Mk2 wreck Iv'e just bought has loads of history and I'm sure there was some BR Motorsport Invoices amongst it all. I'll dig em out and post em up. IIRC there was also a quote from Brian Ricketts for some engine work ( a BRM 142 I think ). All from 1987. :)

Wait till you see the GTi Engineering price list from 1986 with some 1400 Mobile Phones!
and a 4500 Oetinger Conversion. I'll post that too.

    Continuing the GTi Engineering theme.
Here are some Invoices from 1988 for work done to my GTi.
Ive also included the price list from 2 years previous.
Check out the Mobile phones and the seat re-trims.

Car is no more unfortunately [:^(] Guy I sold it to introduced it to a very large tree.
With the Jetex System and a K&N it was running about 126BHP IIRC.

    Cheers

It looks funny with such a high stance. I guess the Suspension mods were only just starting then and with a Sachs or Bilstien kit at 300 - 400 it was just too expensive for a lot of folk. The MiM rims were the envy of a lot of other GTi drivers but in a way they were a cop out compared to BBS. [:$]

I still kick myself to this day for getting rid of the Atlas Grey when I did. It had covered just 60k when I traded it in for a Tornado Digifant :) It wasn't as good IMO.

    Swap over day.
