Well after a week and a halfs work its finally in a state im happy to post about. Firstly there is a before photo to see why I changed it in the first place and then there are a few step by step photos with the latest having just been taken. I set out wanting a better sound from my system and a more usable tidy boot setup, I hope i achieved my aims, in everybodies eyes,
Looks good, but personally I'd have the sub mounted on the false floor instead of on the rear shelf. Wouldn't wantsome theiving bugger taking a stanley knife to the rear window seal and nicking your stuff ! Been thinking of doing something similar, how much did the materials set you back and how long did it take ?
Nice n' neat that, why not use the same trim carpet to do the rear panels of the back seat, it would make it look more 'factory'. Good effort.
people sit on the back seat i want all round good sound not just for me in the front hwich is why next im upgrading door speakers and putting some tweeters in. took me a week and a half roughly, not flat out every hour obv just snippets before work in the evenings. there is a parcel shelf going in yet so the sub wont be seen for someone to theive. i would guess at around 25 to make it but its a guess!
where is the sub?!i take it the first pic is what you are getting rid of, now you just have 6x9's in your boot i take it you are putting a sub in there too?
dont know what you lot are all complaining at i recon its a top effort in fact i think im in love with this woman! lol seriosuly tho 6x9's in flimsy parcle shelves always sound crap because they will shake and vibrate too much nless they are made of really thick wood sound quality will be vastly improoved by screwing them into proper wood like she has done. and i shouldnt think it will make that much difference having the speakers in the boot the only problem i can see you having is if the speakers are in phase, you have the same sound waves going at eachother in the opposite direction so in effect you are cancleing the sound waves out if that makes sense? maybe you should run them out of phase and see if they sound better?
You saying gti8v is fat? - no im saying im a good looker and Ill be carrying a baseball bat to help me look!! Yes the sub is going in the boot as well and its on its way to me from a website. Ive ordered an alpine type r sub meow!! No worries about flat tyre ive made it in a way that if i did get a flat tyre altho itd take me ten mins to get at I still can!! Yes the sub is in an enclosure it came with one from where I bought it. I know what u mean Steve B, I shall look into it!! Thanks for the good feedback everybody altho none from my fav person tut tut I was expecting praise by the dozen from u!! U know who u are!
very nicely done good to see you got rid of the xplop sub im planning to do the very same thing in my mk2 golf....need to put mdf side panels but im planning to mount the amps on them as my sub and box takes up the whole boot floor
i got the carpet off ebay, two rolls was enough for me and much cheaper than halfords sold, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TRIM-CARPET-FOR-BASS-BOXES-AND-BOOT-BU ILDS_W0QQitemZ5815816301QQcategoryZ18805QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem this is the current set but they always have them on once one has expired
