What about fitting a stinger inside a tyre, and allowing the spikes to centrifuge their way outside the carcass, thus giving a neat arrangement of spikes, and jettisoning the posidrive manual labour!

As fun as it'd be to try, i'd say most people either have better things to do than screws 100's of screws into a tyre or managed to cope in the snow without the need of snow tyres. I know i did and it was scraping the bottom of the chassis round my way so hardly poor snow.

If you're doing it then by all means keep up updated, i dont think its a case of dismissing an idea from a "intellect clearly superior to their own". Thats bcasically saying you are right, no matter what anyone says and there are 3 ways it'll go.

You'll do it and it'll be ok, but hardly practical and not exactly a saleable item.
You'll do it an it'll fail and tell us and people will as a result of your above arrogance point out the failings in detail.
Or you'll go completely silent on the subject, at which point people will assume you failed or lost interest for whatever reason and do the same as above.

Feel free people to add more optins to the list but i think option 4, this works and is a huge marketable sucess will be slim and remain to be seen.

I offer you every piece of luck in doing this as i'm not a person to beat down someones idea. EVERYTHING should be tried and the only advice i'v offered it to try and help you in making a better unit, whatever the item may be.

Feel free to be big headed, condesending and ignore peoples advice and opinions, but do so at your own peril, its not like you've paid a consultant for this advice, its free and form people with a different view point who may or may not see the shortcoming of something. Most people make more than 1 prototype before they make something, we're just trying to save you time.

Chris I usually respect your opinion on technical matter but have you worked out the wheel speed required to force a hollow spike through a tyre?

    It'll have to pretty fast

If you weren't looking for feedback, why coem to a public forum with an idea and no product. Also you know you've lost any possibility of protecting you design in coming to the public, should you care. FYI

Can I suggest a 10 minute power nap for everyone, and then we'll get back on to this?

Of course I have checked - do you not realise I have a tyre lab in my back garden? Keep up.

Yet you haven't thought of making snow tyres from spacesavers?

What a waste of expensive equipment:o

Probably quite difficult getting the supply of stingers.
I could go out and collect some later, if you need any more for testing.

    Stinger spikes are out!

They're too long & would foul the arches of lowered cars.

Dome headed screws are the prefered source of spikyness.

You stick to the thinking, I'll run the production line

Good man - we don't need to know how you're getting them, but we're not asking

Simply not true, as my latest physics-based CAD image shows...
