Steve(I suck the mouldly sp**k from a dead donkeys d1ck) Cresswell! This guy should have a titanium box around his head to stop it getting any bigger the t**ser I'd kick up a fuss and get in touch with citezens advice about it. You should not paying the bill for someone elses mistakes.
as magazines continue to be linked with them. it puts c&r in a position of trust from those who might not come on here (and other boards) to read the horror stories. it's not like they're going to hear the bad things in the magazines is it? it's the same with any mag link up. journos get free stuff/car worked on for free...business gets plugged...customers believe the testimonials...business get's comfortable and let's the customers down
This thread could go on for quite a while, i can see it. I took my car when it was drifting to the left, emptied my bank account (350odd, not much i know) on many parts and labour, it was STILL drifting to the left. I turned around from on the way home and went back saying its was not right. They claimed they had "taken it for a test drive" and it was only "slightly" drifting to the left. When i said it felt more direct but the original problem of the drifting was still apparent they said that if i book it in again, they would "have a look". It was an expensive lesson, but one well learnt: Do not trust them fvcking cvnts. That is all.
Ive phoned them a few times and found him to be very arrogent and carcastic. If you live or are willin to travel to nottingham there is a much better place in cannock. I too am very choosey who I let work on my car.
I've never had the pleasure of meeting Mr Cresswell, so can't comment. I've been there a couple of times for quotes (fixing on a stainless backbox, getting my Pierburg sorted) and have been so astounded by the size of the quotes, I've come away with my head spinning! So I haven't been able to afford to have the work done there anyway. The other staff seem OK, including Roy(?)
Roy is spot on never had any problems with him. I think the best bet for these guys would be to keep the gimp locked in the back so he can't answer phones or deal with any customers, who he has a habit of upsetting or losing in my case.
dealt with them on a number of occasions and seen loads of C&Rs work and at the risk of repeating myself I still think they would be hard pushed to competently take the top of a bottle of milk. if youve loads of cash to burn and a very low expectation of the quality of work then they are the boys for you
I have dealt with them a few times mail order. Roy has always been brilliant. Never had the pleasure of Mr Cresswell. The guy with the squeeky voice (no offence) has been good too.
Been there a couple of times and found that there knowledge is very limited for a so called "specialist". When last went they said they were really struggling with a 20vtconversion, I would have thought a"specialist" with all there connections could have one done in a couple of weeks.
Well just to go against the flow / bandwagon of 'haters' I havent had a problem with Steve Cresswell. He seems alright to me, quite a wealth of knowledge. My opinion is that they aren't cowboys & they know their stuff.
Expensive yes but I will use them again I have been more than pleased with the work I've had carried out. I think you get what you pay for, in the end it's a gamble taking your car to any garage but as I'm a usless cnut mechanically I have no choice. If they are as bad as some people say why are they still answering questions in most of the mags?
he seems quite knowledgeable in magazine columns he writes having sold a lot of bits to vw modders, i know what he is up against! some 20 year old kid that wasnt even born when the mk1 was out.
well not really a bad thing, if he hasnt used other products and knows certain ones are good, also no use saying yes u need *insert part* but I have no idea where to get it / can't tell you what it is otherwise it'd be advertising C&R
Just another for Roy, top bloke and I`ve bought quite a bit of stuff from him over the years, very helpful bloke. Only had the missfortune to speak to the big C once, and that was enough..
