Thanks for that, very useful. http://www.vwspares.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=205 Is what I am looking for. The Halfords branded doesn't even look like that! Going to see if I can pricematch it at VW garage *coughs* Thanks for your help again.
just noticed, the avs and gsf filter have the same part number. do trust halfords, dont trust garages. youll be ok then
Get a trade card then RJ . Got some brake pads for a saxo the other day 20.49 on the shelf, 8.39 with trade card. Only got the at halfords coz ECP f***ed up and gave wrong pads.
Right, got the air filter fitted and while it does improve a bit, the juddering is still there. Mostly it usually happens when it's under load, i.e. pushing the pedal down quickly. And while crusing, revving up to just before 4,000 rpm, it judders. I have got new spark plugs so will fit it as soon as the engine has cooled down. But I thought I'd mention this in case it could be something else. Also anyone know any garage in South Norfolk that can hook me up to a computer to see if there is any fault codes? Thanks,
I know it's a late reply, been busy! It looks like the spark plugs was the issue - replaced all 4 of them and the car runs smooths now, with no juddering. (so far!) Will keep driving the car to see if it's actually gone. Anyone know any garage in South Norfolk that can hook me up to a computer to see if there is any fault codes? Thanks for the help so far.
Update on the juddering issue: No problem so far since I replaced the spark plugs and fitted the air filter. Thanks all.
2 months gone, the issue has returned. But this time, it's different - it only happens on a wet day, i.e. raining heavy during driving. So what could it mean?
id say you have an ignition problem somewhere, fauly coil, cap leads or arm arcing out when they get wet. run the car at night and spray a mist of water over the engine, see if you can figure out where. Id suspect coil as its a common weak spot on MK3s! and dont buy service bits from halfords ever again, gsf or avs all the way
I have the cable now and downloaded the software from the Ross Tech site, but it kept popping up, asking to pay for it. Have I downloaded the wrong one? You say it's free. Can you send me the correct link? Thanks.
