Daz ( motorhead on here ) used R888s and A048s back to back on his track car and preffered the Toyos. One of the lads we spoke to at the 'ring with a 306 GTI6 had used both 48s and 888s and preffered the Yokos, as he got through a set of 888s in one day at Anglesey I know outright grip and feel blah de blah should come first and longevity shouldn't be a factor with a track day tyre, but when they cost 100 each, I personally want to get more than one day out of a set Dunlop Formula Rs are about 125 each, and they don't do 195/50 either.
Price of 48s from Polley. "195/50x15 AO48R = 81.13 + VAT each 215/45x17 AO48R = 123.69 + VAT each If you order in quantities of 20 or more then I will do an extra 5% off and free carriage..."
Do we have to order 20 of each size to receive the discount? Or 20 overall? And i guess we all have to order together. At least we have found somewhere where we can get a little bit of discount? And also, is that 5% per 20 tyres? Because surely 40 is a fairly realistic target?
If the order was for more than 10 tyres it would be free carriage If that means to each individual address or who ever makes the order, I don't know
Have heard off my supplier last night, he says that due to how the yoko suppliers operate in the UK he will be unable to offer a substantial discount on yokos. However he will be able to offer a substantial discount on Toyo 888's im awaiting for him to confirm prices. will keep you posted.
888`s Colleagues (Evo & E30 M3) on the hillclimb / sprint `circuit` really rate these. AO48`s Not tried them but I do use the AO32R`s and they are excellent. Cope well in the wet too. Dunlop Formula R (DO1J) I also use these and find them very good. The DO1J is being superceded hence I got 4 - 195/55 x 15 for 75 each plus VAT & 10 carriage from Mr Tyre Birmingham. Cheers
This is a good idea Gary, don't let it die. Asked Rubber Dunc about it, he said try Motorsport Wheels in Essex. Run by ex-yoko people apparently, so potential for discount there I suppose. 195/50/15. (anyone at Brands this w'end? D has a Westfield press car with seq box if anyone wants a ride. Think Mr Reeves may be there too.) Regards
