Big thanks goes out to HIC for sending me another insurance certificate with the registration for my written-off Driver still on it, instead of the new GTI. So while the Driver gets towed away to be cubed over the weekend, I still haven't got a bloody tax disc for the new car.

    "Our printers have been broken..."

    "The snow..."

It's a trivial thing really, I know. But it's just so bloody frustrating!

I'd risk it without tax for a couple of days - but I'm not dodgy enough to do that!

I tried to talk the local PO into accepting a phone number for HIC or even getting something faxed through, but got nowhere. Fair enough really.

Thing is, I wonder if any PO might do that? They don't really take down anything from the document, do they...?

    Amen.

I had a right strop down the phone after the receptionist told me You're Next In Line To Be Picked Up! for the tenth time, when it was obviously a damned lie. I don't pay my money to be patronised.

I so, so wish I was with Direct Line again. In fact I might even go back to them for the extra cost. I can't afford to have an insurance company prevent me from getting to work.

Oh, and why the hell does the receptionist pick up the phone every two minutes and ask you what you want?

HIC are crap at answering the phone. Always get them to call you back, thats if they decide to. That receptionist woman is a right cow. [:x]

To be honest I've found the receptionist to be quite pleasant lately(!), but I find it bizarre how she keeps getting onto you to enquire as to what department you're waiting for. "Okay, you're next to be picked up" and then the music / irritating sales blurb bloke comes back on for 20 minutes.

They're brilliant for insurance prices. I mean, I'm paying about 160 or something stupidly low like that for my 16V on a very limited mileage policy.

But I find their lame excuses for the poor service to be very patronising. "We are currently experiencing a busy moment". My arse.

    They never call you back.

    Hang on a minute.

What happens if you buy a tax disc through the post? Do you still need to provide evidence of insurance then? I thought maybe if I at least had a cheque in the post to the DVLA and started using the car I might be kind of safe..

The only happy quote I`ll ever get is when they tell me it is for free or they will pay me to take their insurance.
    "well quote me silly"
