Custom Bootlid Project.....Painted PG4

    Decided to get another bootlid to work on, as the one on the GTI is a genuine New one that aint very old

    This one has had all the unnescessary bits welded this afternoon, and the next stage is to figure out a plan for the plinth.

    It will be flushed over, but with a wee twist (dont think i've seen any like this but may be wrong)

    hrrm, ive seen it done on a mk1 convertable, not sure about a Mk2 though.

    Thats prob a better pic - flushed with the step across the width.

    Should be ready by next week probably. No hurry though

    how are you going to do that? weld in hunk of sheet steel on top!? take a chissle to it? [:s]

    Few more pics - got the steel partially shaped now, final finishing will be done when welded and bonded in place

    The screws are there to hold it in place when i apply some adhesive to the rear of it to bond it on, and then shall be plug welded and welded along the top.

    Cant weld at the bottom cos i need to keep the clean edge, so has to be secured the other ways ;)
