Sometimes this is caused by the vacuum pipe to the fuel pressure reg. Check this.

Mine just turned out to be damp in th end but I still have bad mpg, looked at the digifart tuning guide to set the CO and found that my AFM doesn't have an adjuster :(

You mean the adjuster screw has been screwed all the way out, or there's not even a hole (in which case, it might be the wrong AFM).

note some will have a blanking plug in the hole, you thread a self tapping screw into it and yank it out

Theres no plug, just a circular depression in the casting where it should be.

Makes me think that it might be from a rare model with a lambda probe?

It's the only way I think you can have a non adjustable afm on this system.

No plug at all, I've removed a fair few of those plugs on other cars with L jetronic systems when I worked at a rolling road and thats what threw me when I saw it.

You might want to check part numbers, in case it's from a rarer model like a G60. It could just as easily be from a peugeot, BMW, or any other car that shipped with L-Jetronic though.

Either way, you need a new AFM.
