    Erm- looking at the picture of his spilt tyre I would say that proves your first comment wrong :-)
    Stretching tyres is some euro thing that I just don't get :-s firstly it looks proper mong- almost like you need a grown up to tyre shop with you pmsl

    And secondly there is the safety aspect of it AND if you end up causing an accident due to your inadequate size and fitment of tyre I should imagine public transport will be your friend for at least 12 months *** rolls eyes**

    I doubt this is down to the stretched tyre itself !

    The main cause of a blow out when stretching tyres is bad air pressure normally, especially if your split rim is leaking slightly.

    What does look MONG is 18's on a MK4 :p lol

    either the tyre was rubbing or the toe on the rear is miles out my opinion.

    check your rear axle bushes maybe and check the wheel alignment.

    18" tyres on a 19" rim!!! Now thats a stretch ;)

    Check the dates on the tires it's recommended to replace tires over 5yrs. I see people rolling on tires over 10yrs just starting to crack surprisingly
