just been getting some quotes for eagle f1s since most people on here swear by them

but my suppplier told mealthough Id find the grip impressive they dont last long( very honest of them)

whats people experience are they short lived?

(I know its partly down to driving style etc but overall)

    Cheers

    Chris

If you want tyres that last, buy Firestones,if you want tyres that grip - get F1s [:D]

I've had some on the front since November, been on track twice with them so the edges are a bit fecked, but they've still got 3-4mm in the centres, I run a lot of negative camber (2)
And do a lot of road miles in the car also ;)

    isn't this true tho...

tyres get worn out when they slide around, so sometimes a softer tyre will last longer as its sliding around less.

ive had both Toyos and F1's both lastest about the same time, and both really good grip! F1s probably a couple quid more expensive for 195/50r15 than the toyos

am running Toyos at the mo, no complaints!

both are excellent tyres tho!

I`ve had mine for 5k and 1 trackday and they`re fine as well, plenty left (although I`m not a hard road driver).

I kill road tyres on track -- so not counting track time.

    When i was on Toyo's i was replacing 2 a month!

These Eagles have been on months now and have LOADS on -- also 2 wet sessions at Mallory.

I've gone through a set of 195/50/15 eagle F1's, they lasted well considering I hammered them, not the softest compound I've ever had, and as ACF says: taking a tyre past its nominal level of grip will drastically reduce its life span - so if you are taking a tyre past its level of grip (say 110% of what its capable of), compared with 80% of grip or another tyre (well within its limits), the one at 110% will wear out much faster than the one at 80%.

I currently have a set of 215/40/16 eagle F1's, on 7" rims, which are lasting ages as I dont push them to their limit unlike the 195's, but maintain the same speeds around corners.

Get the F1's, they're better than all other tyres in the wet and above average in the dry, and they last long enough depending on how u treat them. U wont be dissapointed. If you want to go on track, get some track wheels and tyres (probably cheaper than mullering road tyres quickly, in the long run)!

Yup, that's we we run used Michelin slicks now on track :)Cheaper than killing road tyres, twice the grip

    (at least)[:D]

Only downfall to F1s and T1-S is road noise, they're a *lot* noiser than the A539s I used to run

no no no...michelin pilots are awful, they're ok in cornering grip but no good under traction and breaking. i had a set in between uniroyal rallye540's and the current yoko 539/pirelli 6000 (i think) set up...and the michelins were the worst, uniroyals were best (awesome in wet)

For those near to London or Berkshire I use Bracknell Tyre & Battery, they can do the F1s in 195/45/15 for about 50 a corner including fit, valve & balance.
