    hi there

i just fitted aset goodyear eagle f1 Gs-d3's got a real good deal from www.mytyres.co.uk about 46.70 each (195/50/15) and that includes delivery and vat, only thing is you got to get um fitted, alright if you got a mate in the trade [:D]
so far they seem brilliant in the dry. but i don't like um in the wet, no way near as good as Yoko A539's which i usually run

thats surprising, 539's aren't very good in the wet (comparing to uniroyals here)...maybe the f1's need to be scrubbed in before they work (i know, its a motorsport term, but you know what i mean)

im thinking or getting a set of F1's but at the momnet i have falkens but the fronts are waring a bit thin,

how would the falkens compare to the f1's? it doesnt matter if i have falken's on the back with f1's on the front does it?

or should i stick with falkens,

also can you put either 205 or 215 on to 17x7.5" rims?

    tim

EDIT: also on mytyres they are 90 a boot, is that about right for 205/40 R17?

You could rotate your tyres to make them last a bit longer too.

falkens ze502's are ok, nothing more. falken ze512's are poor.

f1's are supposed to be exceptional, so i here! i'd like to know if anyone can compare them to uniroyal rallye540's, as these are the best tyres i've personally used?

should i put the fronts on the back then? the backs are in good nick,

fronts still have a bit on them just not a great deal, and they aint too good in the wet when pulling off,

yeah, try and wear them all out at the same time.

its gonna be a bigger hit on the wallet, but if you have poor tyres on the rear (falkens) and really good ones on the front (f1's) then theres a good chance the car will be unbalanced and you'll crash (especially in the wet, as f1's are supposed to be mighty then).

not sayin you would, but its worth thinkin about.

It's free so why not try it and see. If you don't like it hanging back is just as easy.

I`d wear the fronts out and just fit a pair if you can get another set the same? Whatever you do don`t put new ones on the back with worn fronts as it`ll oversteer like crazy!

Dont you mean the other way round? New tyres are recomended to go on the back for exactly this reason, to stop you oversteering.

dont fit f1s on the front and normal tyres on the back it will lift off oversteer like a Capri

honestly fit the F1s on the back or F1s all round only safe way

But you can scrub in the new tyres quicker on the front and I found Toyo Proxes need a decent scrub-in period.

ive got f1's on the front and pirelli p600's on the back and the lift off over steer in the wet is awsome!
the only thing i find bad obout the f1's is wet braking seems a bit unpredictable, they seem to grab and grab and then suddenly lock up without much warning. anyone slse experienced this?

I've got F1's all round and I havent experienced unpredictable braking in the wet, even with the abs switched off.

Get a set of F1's on the front. Leave them there for a few of weeks taking it easy, to enable them to get nicely worn in. Then rotate the F1's to the back and the Falkens to the front.

Getting a full set of F1's is going to expensive, if you rotate them now. Plus, it is going to be safer driving around with good tread tyres on the back and slightly worn ones on the front than all worn ones.

Tyre places always recommend putting new tyres on the rear on a FWD car, to retain its understeer characteristics.

    Cheers

[IMG]These were new but I managed to blister them on the second session. I did run them on the road after for about 3k afterwards but hat to paint the canvas black so it was less noticeable:lol:

Try it and see what happens ;)

I had a pair of 2 week old F1-GSD3s on the front, then put a brand new pair of F1-GSD-3s on the rear, the first roundabout I went round at 30mph.. what happened?

    Yep, spun it!
