Starting to get things organized for my 2.0 8v conversion into my digi mk2. TSC picked the engine up for me yesterday and i'll be getting a cam over xmas and the PB head done in the new year. Just wondering what sort of bhp/torque figures to expect with the following spec and how that relates to 0-60 and 1/4 times? 2.0 2E p+p PB head with std valves and matched intake mani. Newman 272 cam Ashley 4 branch and full system Blitzchip modded airbox cheers Phil.
F**k all, until you come and lift the engine out of the back of the Caddy..... It dumped it's oil on the way in, so J decided that cat litter and sawdust would be good to soak it up. Good for a garage floor, but not good for my truck - every time it rains I'll be leaking oil, lol.
Just count yourself lucky you are probably the first person in Ireland to have a twin engined caddy.. I'm guessing the sawdust was the quickest possible thing to use to get you's away to the bar? Are you in tomorrow night weather permitting Parz and I can get you squared up for it and get it out of the caddy? I like the sound of that mr h. standard valvers may keep to the right
Your head needs bigger exhaust valves, or it won't rev high enough to make that power, but if set up properly it should be in 140-150 territory.
I know Mike, to see the full benefit I should go for the BVH but I'm trying to keep the costs down as much as possible as I'd like to replace some bits like bushes and fuel pump etc. what will this conversion do for my 0-60 and 1/4 times?
150BHP@6200revs 148lbft@4800 revs is what i'd aim for. MK2 full interior. 15.0@94mph 60 in 6.9ish secs. Average driving. 25-30ish mpgs. If the motor is very torquey you will suffer traction issuses and your 60ft will be sh***.
when i had a 266 kent cam BVH polished/ported gas flowed st. manifold cone filter i ran 15.81 @ 86 mph at Elvington. power was 136BHP NOW got a 2L bottom end 276 Newman cam custom 2.25" exhaust chip off e-bay nitrous being fitted as we speak , so will be dynoed on tuesday. AND WHO SAYS DIGI'S ARE CR*P ??? hoping to run 15.30 seconds at least without nitrous. i had the car bouncing on the rev limiter in 5th a few weeks back , racing a civic type R.
It's not brilliant, but then again most moving parts on a 15-20 year old vehicle are starting to show signs of wear. VW probably didn't predict people like us to becomeing obsessed with their cars and using them way beyond their projected lifespan.
I sympathise, Phil, as I've just spent another 400 on repairing and reworking an 8v 40/35 head on top of the money I spent on it the first time around. However, you won't make near 150 bhp if it won't rev past 5500, and struggles over 5000.
instead of going the big valve route can you not gain nearly as much airflow from really working out the throats and muulti-angle valves or does it not compare? I could hold on a bit longer and save a bit more cash for the BVH but there's a rr session planned for March/April and trackdays coming up around then too. I'm also going to need to upgrade the 239's very soon aswell and I'd like to polybush as much as I can while I have the engine out. Added to that my shopping list so far looks like: New 8v clutch and 16v pressure plate - Now do I bother doing the flywheel aswell?? metal head gasket for ABF pipes a T connector to plumb breather Possible spacer for DP New service parts for 2E New head studs 16v front mount New radiator Goodridge hoses it all adds up [:^(] For god's sake don't say ABF
To add to what mikehorsb was saying. You know torque output is a function of VE. Even though you make you head flow more would this be enough to keep the torque peaking to 4800. The cam will determine if that lovely head work is up to the game. 0r do you have a trick up that sleeve to achieve the required CFM without an upgraded camshaft. Just my 2shillings
I've heard good things about the Newman 272, don't really want to go any more aggressive than that and affect the cars road manners.
[QUOTEAND WHO SAYS DIGI'S ARE CR*P ???[/QUOTE] Shhhhhh Or you'll start Mexorich off on his'k-jet's are so mcuh better' ramblings again!
