Not sure about the torque, it may be a case of producing not quite as much but from earlier on going for the milder cam.

I'm definately going for a 268 Newman instead now. Car still get used as a daily and I've read about people 'over-camming' thinking theire doing the best thing for it at the time and not liking the results.

Watched your track vids a few times Mike, your car sounds like it's bouncing off the limiter but it keeps on pulling!!

    The mighty 8v!

you will also need to swap the water pump pulley, also if you going to get the 280mm brake setup i cant see much change from 150 by the time you have bought pads and discs, bearings if required etc. Also ensure that the bleed valve a re free before you cough up the money, if not there is another 80 quid

Thanks phil, should be a bit better next year.

Not sure what the 280's are like on the mk2 but they make a massive difference on the mk1 with a few other mods from the standard brake system (then again anything would  ).

yes they do make a big difference for sure but at nearly 200 quid you would hope so.

That's interesting. I'm sure the rover prices wouldn't be as steep as G60 "Rare, VW, Motorsport ebay" items. Would the carriers line up though or would you need to get some fabricated.

Modified airbox, clean throttle body, decat pipe leading to an exhaust with a straight through middle box, none of this 90 degree bend VW carp, then a powerflow DTM backbox. Oh, and a didgey blue temp sender.

So all in all nothing major yet, just the basic breathing. :)

At what sort of revs do people notice the benefit of the big valve head over a normal ported 'n' polished head, if anyones tried both types of head with the same cam I'd like to know?

Thinking of low down torque as my personal preference so mild cam, 2l block, and ported n polished head is the plan - not sure if its worth the expense of going for bigger valves. [:s]

if you are not going for big valves , you will still get a lot of torque with a 272 cam.

i had a 266 cam , but it did not feel much differant to the standard cam. (running 276 cam now , but i like the power that comes with it. )

the car hits the rev limiter in gear 5. big valves increase your top end , and bhp.

I''ve chickened out of going for a 272 and have decided on a 268 instead.

Well he is now on his way home with the engine in the boot........ covered in what looks like a mixture of spunk and puke. Engine oil plus cat litter plus rain makes a nice combination.......
