Tried putting parents on the insurance as a named driver? That should bring it down.

But I also can't see why the excitment of paying 2k to drive your own car

I insured with HIC a while back ,and yes quote was OK.
The next year they tried to shaft me hoping I would just renew.
Sadly for them I didn`t take their offer up.Sure they come across as "enthusiasts" and spin you the b/5hit on the phone but tbh I think it is all a sales tactic which is encouraged by the company.
    Plus I am a cynical bstard.[:D]

Thats cheap considering i paid 1600 TPFT for my first car when i was 17 which was an N reg Fiesta 1.1 Azura

That was Norwich Union, but it did drop down to exactly half that price after the first year. Now ive found much cheaper insurers eg Admiral.

Im also 19 and i pay 700 FC with 2 years NCB, and mines an 8v. Still a lot i know but i cant get it any cheaper, ive tried every single insurance company thats been recommended on here.

like Jolfa said, i was running an old 16v at 19 for 1150 tpft with Adrain flux, 1 year ncb about .....feck 6 years ago! 1900 is shocking, you could get another decent valver for that! i'd get another car to run for a year and spend the diff on you current 16v. just a thought.

^^ thankyou my bagpipe playing amigo.

well, calling admiral proved very useful indeed, with a quote of a mere 6125 :)

I called back HIC, I wasnt able to talk to 'martin' as he had clocked out for the day, but I happened to be talking to the supervisor.. he remembered martin from yesturday asking about it, and said 'I then had to transfer this to my manager aswell, as we dont normally insure people of 19 on golf gtis, 1950 was pushing it to be honest. call on monday and mark will help you out, see what can be done...the only reason you got it because of past plus and things' so yeah, that was that. Im thinking of adding my 60 year old dad to the insurnace which would maybe drag it down, but to be honest I dont know how you all think I can get it lower!

    My details are

    not living in a ghetto
    19
    Pass plus
    no NCP
    10 months had my lisence
    been driving 1.6 for 10months
    urm....
    im a 32 waist?

ill let you know how it works out monday!
