;) seriously though, i would get second car to use and spend money/time on the 16v until you got at least 1 year ncb (makes alot of diff).

When i had my first one, i had it for 9 months. Paid 3000 for a late 'j' black with rainbow interior etc etc. Some bint side swiped me and put me in a tree and wrote it off with chassis damage. I had paid the full amount (1150) up front and lost 3 months worth of insurance (200-300 ish of the insurance left). Obviously i got a payout for my car but not as much as it was worth so i lost out twice.

Its your money and car at the end of the day but just think for a minute about how much money you are basically giving to the insurance company for 365 days of cover!

Oh go on do what you want! I loved every minute of having a Gti at 19![8D]

if you've only been driving 10 months, that's the problem, go and get a quote from www.elephant.co.uk with as many experienced older drivers on as poss, and say you've been driving 1 year...

if id even been driving 11 months elephant wanted 3000 from me, as soon as the year was up it was 1200... this is why i had to wait, and had a 1.1 fiesta in the mean time

you cant wait 2 months to save yourself 700? i know the feeling of having a fast car you cant drive (legally) but for the sake of 700, i'd hang on...

but elephant seem to go more by how long you've held your licence than ncb... seriously, just go and get a quote from them, say youve held your licence 1 year, and put as many older experienced drivers on there as poss

i mean as a quote not as the actual thing to buy, just to see how much it will be when you HAVE been driving 1 year...

its worth waiting 2 months for... i had to...
