One for Dex, 70s saloon car racing at it's best!! http://www.rsownersclub.co.uk/video/dtv.wmv Notice it's the same bloke interviewing him at the end of the clip that you hear in loads of old motorsport footage, anyone know his name? Edited by: GVK
damn! beat me to posting the link... Sorry to be picky though, it's Baby Bertha in the vids - big bertha was a Ventora that was overweight and slow. This made it incompatible with Gerry who was, errm, well he wasn't slow...
What a machine and driver eh. Great find Gary. http://www.stillphotography.co.uk/gallery/albums/album45/DTV _Reunion_15.jpg http://www.stillphotography.co.uk/gallery/albums/album45/DTV _Reunion_26.jpg http://www.stillphotography.co.uk/gallery/albums/album45/DTV _Reunion_28.jpg "Took it nice and slow" Any more footage about does anyone know?
i'm dying to find more footage of Baby Bertha, Old Nail or even Big Bertha - you should see Gerry's Style when he was trying...
That was a brilliant video! Were those things quick or what!! I've gotta say, since racing a Mk1, I'm liking retro stuff more and more. Some of those wide arched Mk1 Escorts were yummy.
Overweight and slow maybe ... but I`d still take one ... I will never tire of hearing the engine note on Baby Bertha ... utterly fantastic. Quite a nice little vid, but as always it leaves you wanting more ! Awesome 70`s cars, hairstyles and some cracking 70`s guitar riffs as well. What more could you want ? Edited by: superden
the "overweight and slow" comment was mildly tongue in cheek - the Ventora absolutely oozes 70s cool...
I had the plesure!!?? experence of sitting next to him in a Griff 500 around brands, he spent most of the time looking out of my door glass! Grate tallent, sadly missed.
That clip gave me wood I really miss the days before the noise police cut the bollox off race cars [:^(]
