Surely you'd get about 10bhp. It was testicles anway cos I was thinking of what you get with those and cams upgrade. I really have no idea what I'm talking about - I'll keep trying though [:s] [8-}]

I drove a Tommi Makinen Evo6 back from dartford docks to St.ALbans About 60 miles and i have to say that they are awesomely quick and i have to say even with a caravan (with flat tyres) on the back of his car he would still beat you infact i reckon a caravan and a family of twenty refugees sitting inside and the Evo would still beat you!

No amount of Stripping your car or adding any exhaust and filter would help you.

Just say to him that youve been rather silly and that your sorry.

Richgits on the other hand would probably keep up with him if he could get all the power down ;)

Take it you used the GTD front engine mount on that Mike, with the smaller, fatter, thinner, longer bigger bolt from the dealer? Otherwise it'll rip the rear intercooler to shreds as soon as you take it down the strip?

I think you plan should read something like

"Oops, I totally under estimated what your car can do and totally over estimated what my car can do. Can I go and hide in the corner now?"

well its not untill the 16th October, I figured i'd come on here beforehand and get some tips on getting some power out of the ol VW.

I also thought it would be good to get some idea of the chance I stood. I'm quite shocked tbh that everyone thinks im going to get wasted. I figured i'd at least beat him by 5 secs. [:^(]

5 seconds, which planet are you from!?

You might beat him by 5 seconds if it was a race to see who could fill up their petrol tank at Shell the quickest.

Short of turning your Golf into rwd or 4wd and more than doubling the power you're not going to see which way he went (if the Evo spec is as you say) in a 0-60/100 1/4 mile whatever really.

Even in a track race unless you spend serious on the car then you will still be behind.

The info I posted is the spec of a standard car, his has one of those powder fcs on and he says its about 350Hp.

I dont think 5 seconds given my limited knowledge of the car was unreasonable..

Btw Evos have a small tank so he'd prolly beeat me at filling up. [xx(]
