Hi all, i am now experiencing a similar problem. My mk2 gti 8v always starts up fine and holds the idle, but when, for example, i am approaching a junction, drop the clutch and brake. The revs either drop below the idle and bounce back up or drop below the idle and the engine just cuts out. I always seek to be able to just turn the key and the car goes back to holding the idle fine but will then behave the same at the next junction.

Any help with this would be really appreciated!

Got same problem with my mk2 8v gti, I have been told its the ISV. I am going the post office today to pick up my brand new no mark ebay replacement. VW heritage charge about 400 for one and GSF and euro are around the 200 mark. Ebay 50. Hope it works.
